Ancient sounds

THE BEGINNINGS

Towards the origins of sound

We do not know exactly how they were built but, what remains of the Middle Ages, gives us an important trace of their appearance and why they were played.

Designed to cheer the courts, they soon took hold also in accompanying and sometimes conducting ecclesiastical melodies, gaining ever greater importance and evolving over time.

Today, the interpretation of these instruments is essentially based on the careful iconographic study existing and above all listening to the needs of the musician.
