Mountain Maple

ACER PSEUDOPLATANUS

Wood for musical instruments

The pseudoplatanus maple grows at altitudes from 500 to 1500 meters. The fiber of this wood is very elastic and reaches considerable sizes as well as the height. Unlike the field maple it grows very fast and it is also a very common tree and for this reason it is widely used.

Thanks to its availability and its characteristics has been used and is often used for the construction of any wooden tools in addition to musical instruments.

The mountain maple more commercialized comes from the Balkans, but from my personal experience I prefer the one that comes from Italy because if well seasoned preserves a most tenacious and elastic fiber.
