The place of everyday work
Construction, research into materials, varnishing and final setup of the instruments.

Every instrument passes through the bench
In the workshop in Casale di Scodosia I build bowed instruments and medieval instruments. The work proceeds from the selection and preparation of materials to construction, varnishing and final setup.
Alongside construction, there is study of historical models, iconographic sources and research into woods and varnishes.

Wood, tools and varnishes
An important part of the work concerns observing materials and their behaviour over time. Construction choices are developed through direct experience and comparison with historical instruments.
A work that continues over time
Construction is not separate from research. Historical models, iconographic sources, materials and techniques are observed and compared during daily work.
Some trials lead to immediate solutions; others remain in the workshop and are taken up again in later instruments.
